What gauge wire is used in a typical egg slicer?
I'd like to make an egg slicer that's a little sturdier than the ones typically sold at cooking stores. To this end, I'd like to replace the steel wire with titanium wire. I don't have a micrometer to measure the existing steel wire, so I'm hoping someone can tell me what wire gauge or diameter would be closest to the typical egg slicer's wires. Thanks!
I'd suggest trying a steel electric guitar string ( top string "E"). This would do fine. Or try a cheese cutter wire. If you start working out what GUAGE of wire to use you're thinking too hard about the problem. Just make the thing!
