BiOrb heater kit for tropical fish?
I have decided to opt for tropical fish, rather than marine - for those of you who've read my earlier questions. So i fitted the heater kit.. what came with the BiOrb 30. And it has a little red light glowing to say that it's on, and a temperature dial at the top. I have set the temp to 24 (as instructed) but I cannot see any temperature gage on the actual heater, or in the box. So, how I am supposed to know when the water has reached 24 degrees? Please help meee. I dont know if there even was supposed to be a temp gage in the box, or on the heater. I'm just wondering and if there is, WHERE?!
Thanks everyone. How long do you think it will take overall to heat the tank? Its only 30Ltr so I wouldn't have thought very long.. but it's been in about 6 hours and is still very cold. I can't wait to get my fish!
I think you have to splash out on a thermometer. Those stick on LED's are as good as anything.
24C is the average, it switches off at 26 and back on when it drops to 22C, but it will take a good few hours to heat the tank from cold and during that time the heater will switch off and on to stop it burning out.
